    Training Aim

    This course aims to improve knowledge and understanding of the Laws, Acts and guidance surrounding safeguarding adults at risk, raise awareness of the different types of abuse and neglect and the roles and responsibilities of the dental team.

    Objectives

    • Understand the laws and Acts with regards to safeguarding adults at risk
    • Understand what is meant by safeguarding and adults at risk
    • Knowledge of the role of the Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB)
    • Recognise the different types and of abuse and neglect and its effects
    • Aware of the roles and responsibilities of the dental team
    • Recognise the importance of good record keeping
    • Understand the importance of ‘information sharing’ and how and when this should be carried out

    GDC Development Outcome

    A - Effective communication with patients, the dental team and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints, and raising concerns when patients are at risk.

    D - Maintenance of skills, behaviours and attitudes which maintain patient confidence in you and the dental profession and put patients’ interests first.
